COLLECTIVE SUMMER HAUL

So this is the proper post for Wednesday, a little look at some of the things I've bought so far this summer. I do a lot of online shopping in the middle of the night because sometimes you just need to send yourself a present ya know? Anyways, I spent a lot of money in the past couple of weeks and I thought I'd share it with you so here we go:

The first thing I got are these vegan leather cut out shoes. They're supposed to be a dupe for the Balenciaga buckle ankle boots ($1,275 at Barney's and Neiman Marcus) which are slightly out of my price range. They're not an exact replica but still nice and comfortable for a fraction of the price of what the originals cost. I ordered them online from this Amazon store where there were quite a few reviews, mostly good so I took my chances and got them. I ordered a size 7 which is usually my size and they fit but I probably could have sized down to a 6.5 for a slightly more snug fit. The cost was $29.99 before tax, shipping and after both were added they came to just under $50 which I don't find outrageous for shoes but maybe that's just me!

I think that I actually make monthly orders off the Urban Outfitters website. It's so much better than the store and there's always actually stuff that is worth buying. Generally I can fill my cart with things from the sale section and that's exactly what I did here.

The first item is this BDG vegan leather tote bag. It was on sale for $19.99 from $59 and also comes in a tie dye blue colour. It's so soft and can fit a surprising amount inside of it which is good for school. It has 2 shorter straps and 1 longer one so you have different options for how you carry it, personally I only use the short straps but it's nice to be able to switch it up.

Next is this very low-cut in the back, low-cut in the sides and high-cut in the crotch one piece. I love one-piece bathing suits but it can be really hard to find a nice one that isn't super frumpy. The bathing suit I originally had in mind was one from american apparel that's almost identical to this just minus the white trim. I got this in a medium and paid $9.99 marked down from I think $30 or $40 which in my book is a steal. It's quite revealing for a one piece but this is the look I wanted to it's perfect.

Again, I got another bathing suit. This top is BOND by Chromat Mala and was marked own to $39.99 from $83. Normally I wouldn't pay that much for a bikini top but this one is so different from anything else I own and it's quite supportive so I've actually been wearing it as a bralette as well. I got this in a medium as well and it fits perfectly. The criss crossing neckline is a little different but that's what I really liked about it, the only thing to avoid is a strappy tan line!
My last Urban Outfitters purchase this time around were these sunflower print bikini bottoms. I bought them to go with all the black bikini tops I have because it's more fun to mix and match sometimes. They were $9.99 marked down from $39 which again is more than 50% off and a great deal for a bathing suit. I got a medium and they're a tiny bit too big but I think that is mostly due to the cut outs in the band.

This is the bathing suit we used in the Summer Beach Bag Essentials post so you've already seen a bit of it before. I ordered this online near the beginning of the summer from sheinside.com. I was very skeptical about their website but I read tons of reviews and decided to make an order. I ordered a pair of distressed jean short, a white asymmetrical t-shot (both of these are packed right now) and this bathing suit. I ordered it in a medium and I was disappointed to find that the top just doesn't fit. The top is made for someone with a small cup size but large actual chest/ band size which I'm the opposite of which sucks but I'm going to see if there's anything I can do about it. The bottoms fit great though and I love the caging on both the top and bottom. The bikini cost $23.90 which sadly I don't think it's worth but what can you do.

And finally, last item in the longest post ever is this pair of overalls I picked up from the goodwill near my house. There is no size and they were $8 but I've been looking for another pair for a while. I already have 2 that are shorts and 1 that's a dress so I'm not sure whether I'm going to leave these as is, distress them or cut them. This isn't the only thing I bought, I actually bought 2 more pairs of pants that I'm debating whether or not to make a post on how to distress or cut your own denim. I didn't include them because they're honestly not very nice but with a little bit of work they will be so stay tuned for the maybe.

I hope you guys enjoyed this haul, I know there's a lot of commentary but I wanted to make sure you could have a full review just in case you want to go out and buy any of this stuff. Let us know in the comments below or on tumblr what kind of posts you'd like to see from us of link us to any hauls that you've done this summer!

LIPSTICK REVIEW

First off, we'd just like to say that we're sorry about this being a week late but it's getting done now and that's what counts right? Anyways, to make up for it there is going to be some sort of post everyday this week so keep checking back for something new!
So here we go, the dark-almost-black lipstick trend is huge right now and for once it's something that is more fitting to our style compared to a bright red lip or peplum tops or any other recent trends. Mac is one of the makeup brands that known for their lipsticks and the range of shades that they offer. When you're buying a Mac product, you know that you're going to be receiving the quality that you're paying for. The problem that we found is that when you're just trying out something, it can be hard to commit to a high end product because of the price. You may very well end up loving it and using every last bit of whatever it is but you might hate it and then feel like an idiot for spending a whole lot of money on something you'll never use. For those of you that feel the same way, we've found a dupe for Mac's wildly popular "Cyber" by Wet N Wild in the shade "Vamp It Up".

"Cyber" by Mac has been around for a while and is trusted and used by many. Kylie Jenner for one, wears it all the time but for those of us who don't have endless amounts of money ($16 US which is $17.56 CAD + tax which isn't actually obscene but is still a little steep for a test drive) there had to be a more cost effective option...

And that more cost effective option is this, "Vamp It Up" by Wet N Wild. Yes, it is not a super high end, high quality makeup brand but they make the closest dupe to "Cyber" we were able to find. At $2.29, the Wet N Wild option is a fraction of the cost for identical results.

To briefly compare the two, the colour pay off is identical. With "Cyber" the first stroke is slightly darker than the first stroke of "Vamp It Up" but a second coat on both and you can't tell the difference. "Cyber" is a little bit creamier but when you're buying a Mac lipstick you're buying the quality that comes with it as well while with "Vamp It Up" you can tell that it isn't as high quality of a product but is still amazing for what you're paying. The last major difference that we found is the smell and obviously Mac lipsticks are known for their signature smell while Wet N Wild lipsticks are not but for most people this isn't something they really think or care about when purchasing a lipstick. Overall, "Vamp It Up" by Wet N Wild is a perfect dupe for Mac's "Cyber". We recommend checking out more cost efficient products before committing to the big budget items just to make sure you really love the colour first! Obviously this doesn't work for every product out there but it's a good tip to keep in mind to save a few bucks in the long run. Let us know your favourite dupes because we're always looking for new things to try!
